The University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture (UTIA) is hosting the 2023 Cotton Tour Field Day at the West Tennessee AgResearch and Education Center to inform local agricultural producers about the latest advances in row crop research and cotton production techniques.
The 2023 Cotton Tour Field Day will feature updates on variety testing, ThryvOn cotton plants, fungicides and disease treatment options, weed management, insect control, drought mitigation, market outlook and profitability strategies. The event will include indoor presentations as well as various field tours led by a panel of UTIA specialists to provide attendees with engaging, interactive learning opportunities about regional cotton practices.
“Each year, we cover a variety of topics about cotton growth and production strategies, helping farmers better manage this essential row crop. Local UTIA researchers and Extension specialists will share our extensive first-hand knowledge, providing information that is not only relevant to West Tennessee, but backed by years of research and experience helping farmers across the region,” says Tyson Raper, cotton and small grains Extension specialist with UTIA.
Farmers, industry specialists, community members and local media representatives are invited to attend this annual event.
