Peanut stocks reported in commercial storage on April 30, 2022 totaled 3.65 billion pounds of equivalent farmer stock, compared with 3.32 billion pounds a year ago. This total includes 2.81 billion pounds of actual farmer stock.
Shelled peanuts on hand totaled 809 million pounds of farmer stock equivalent. Roasting stock totaled 28.7 million pounds.
Shelled peanut stocks totaled 608 million pounds of which 578 million pounds were edible grades and 30.0 million pounds were oil stocks. Edible grade stocks by type included 95.1 million pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 452 million pounds of Runners, and 30.7 million pounds of Spanish.
Millings in April totaled 443 million pounds. Millings by type were 83.4 million pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 353 million pounds of Runners, and 6.70 million pounds of Spanish.
Commercial processors utilized 200 million pounds of shelled edible grade peanuts during April. Utilization by type was 121 million pounds for all peanut butter products, 36.6 million pounds for peanut candy, and 38.0 million pounds for peanut snacks. Crushing for oil and cake and meal totaled 43.8 million pounds during the month.
Deliveries under the Government Domestic Feeding and Child Nutrition Programs amounted to 2.65 million pounds of peanut butter and 104 thousand pounds of roasted peanuts during April.
Stocks of treated seed on hand April 30, 2022 totaled 37.0 million pounds, compared with 29.3 million pounds on March 31, 2022. Of the April total, 29.6 million pounds were Runners. March stocks of treated seed included 21.1 million pounds of Runners.
