    DTN Grain Close: Corn Sees Gains, Soybeans Drop

    December corn was up 27 3/4 cents and September Minneapolis wheat was up 9 cents, both benefiting from USDA’s lower-than-expected planting estimates on Thursday. The rest of the grain sector finished lower, along with a sharp drop in crude oil prices.

    GENERAL COMMENTS:

    May corn closed up 10 3/4 cents and December corn was up 27 3/4 cents. May soybeans closed down 45 3/4 cents and November soybeans were down 49 3/4 cents. May KC wheat closed down 14 3/4 cents, May Chicago wheat was down 21 1/4 cents and May Minneapolis wheat was up 21 1/2 cents.

    The June U.S. Dollar Index is trading up 0.51 at 98.39. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 242.62 points at 34,986.19. June gold is up $8.80 at $1,947.80, May silver is down $0.07 at $25.04 and May copper is down $0.0210. May crude oil is down $7.59 at $100.23, May heating oil is down $0.0977, May RBOB gasoline is down $0.1392 and May natural gas is up $0.028.
