    Fuel Report: Marginal Price Decreases

    The U.S. average diesel fuel price decreased less than 1 cent, remaining virtually unchanged at $3.72 per gallon on November 29, $1.22 higher than a year ago. The Rocky Mountain and Midwest prices each decreased nearly 2 cents to $3.82 per gallon and $3.60 per gallon, respectively, the East Coast price decreased nearly 1 cent to $3.68 per gallon, and the Gulf Coast price decreased less than 1 cent to $3.45 per gallon. The West Coast price increased nearly 3 cents to $4.45 per gallon.

    The U.S. average regular gasoline retail price decreased nearly 2 cents to $3.38 per gallon on November 29, $1.26 higher than a year ago. The Gulf Coast and Midwest prices each decreased nearly 3 cents to $3.00 per gallon and $3.17 per gallon, respectively, the Rocky Mountain price decreased more than 2 cents to $3.50 per gallon, and the East Coast price decreased nearly 1 cent to $3.34 per gallon. The West Coast price increased nearly 1 cent to $4.20 per gallon.

    U.S. propane/propylene stocks decreased by 1.0 million barrels last week to 72.7 million barrels as of November 26, 2021, 11.4 million barrels (13.5%) less than the five-year (2016-2020) average inventory levels for this same time of year. Midwest and Gulf Coast inventories each decreased by 0.4 million barrels, and East Coast inventories decreased by 0.2 million barrels. Rocky Mountain/West Coast inventories increased slightly, remaining virtually unchanged.

    Residential propane prices averaged nearly $2.72 per gallon, almost 1 cent per gallon below last week’s price but nearly 86 cents per gallon above last year’s price. Wholesale propane prices averaged more than $1.36 per gallon, nearly 9 cents per gallon above last week’s price and almost 69 cents per gallon above last year’s price.

    As of November 29, 2021, residential heating oil prices averaged more than $3.36 per gallon, more than 2 cents per gallon below last week’s price but nearly $1.10 per gallon higher than last year’s price at this time. Wholesale heating oil prices averaged more than $2.49 per gallon, more than 6 cents per gallon above last week’s price and almost $1.01 per gallon above last year’s price.
