    DTN Grain Open: Lower Ahead of Expected Rains

    Pre-6 a.m. Globex Prices: December corn is down 11 cents, November soybeans are down 19 1/2 cents and July KC wheat is down 6 1/2 cents.

    CME Globex Recap: Early Thursday, Dow Jones futures are trading higher, along with European stock markets ahead of the Labor Department’s weekly jobless claims and the Commerce Department’s update of real U.S. GDP in the first quarter, both due out at 7:30 a.m. CDT. Most commodities are trading lower early Thursday.

    OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Wednesday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 71.34 at 33,874.24 and the S&P 500 down 4.60 at 4,241.84 as the 10-Year Treasury yield settled at 1.49%. Early Wednesday, September Dow Jones futures are trading up 188 points.

    Asian markets are slightly higher with Japan’s Nikkei 225 index up 0.01% and China’s Shanghai Composite Index up 0.01%. European markets are higher with the spot futures of the London FTSE 100 trading up 0.09%, spot futures of Germany’s DAX trading up 0.59% and spot futures of France’s CAC Index trading up 1.11%.

    The September euro is down $0.0002 at $1.1947. The September U.S. Dollar Index is down 0.01 at 91.78. The September 30-year T-bond is down 3/16nds, while August gold is down $2.40 at $1,781.0 and August crude oil is up $0.31 at $73.39.

    On China’s Dalian exchange, September corn was up 0.2%, September soybeans were up 0.2%, September soybean meal was down 0.3% and September soybean oil was up 0.4%. July common wheat on China’s Zhengzhou exchange was down 0.0%. September Malaysian palm oil is trading down 0.8%.
