    Texas: Matagorda County Cotton Program, Bay City, Aug. 20

    The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Matagorda County will be hosting a Cotton Program on Aug. 20 at the Matagorda County Fairgrounds, Multi-Purpose Building, 2604 Nichols Ave., Bay City.

    The cost of the program will be $20. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. with the program beginning at 6 p.m.

    Guest speakers Dr. Alex Thomasson, Texas A&M AgriLife Research engineer and Texas A&M Cotton Chair for the department of biological and agricultural engineering, and Dale Mott, AgriLife Extension program specialist, will talk about the right moisture for picking cotton, storing modules and plastic contamination in baked cotton.

    There will be two Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units available, one general and one integrated pest management, to those who hold a pesticide applicator license.

    “We hope to see you there and to equip you with researched information that could help you have a more positive harvest season,” said Dr. Aaron Sumrall, AgriLife Extension agent for Matagorda County.
