Nutrien Ag Solutions announced the purchase of a 198-acre research farm at Winterville, Mississippi. The site is in a key farming area of Washington County and will be used for development of new products from the company’s Dyna-Gro seed platform.
In addition to plant breeding activities, the company will use the site for evaluation of new offerings from Loveland Products as well as a demonstration center for company employees and customers, the company announced in a press release.
“We are very fortunate to find a site to integrate our development of new technologies for the future,” said Jeff Tarsi, Nutrien Ag Solutions Vice-President of Retail. “Our customers continue to evolve with our retail business, and we will use the Winterville facility as a hands-on proving ground for new farming practices centered around our portfolio of Nutrien brands.”
Ciba-Geigy originally developed the Washington County research facility. Ownership later passed through several companies, including Delta and Pine Land, before being acquired by Nutrien.
