Corn variety trials will be showcased at the June 15 East Side Row Crop Tour in Downsville.
The event is hosted by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Row Crop Committee for McLennan County. Cost is $5 and includes lunch sponsored by area agricultural businesses. RSVP is requested for accurate meal count by June 12 by calling 254-757-5180.
Topics include updates on corn and cotton markets, plus an overall agricultural commodity update. A laws and regulations update will also be part of the program. A total of three continuing education units will be given to Texas Department of Agriculture pesticide license holders: two in the general category and one in laws and regulations.
Also offered will be 4.5 commercial crop advisor units: 2.5 crop management, 1.5 professional development and .5 in integrated pest management.
AgriLife Extension speakers include Dr. Jason Johnson, economist, Stephenville; and Dr. Gaylon Morgan, state cotton specialist, and Dr. Don Renchie, pesticide safety education, both from College Station.
