Science Magazine reports that a Monsanto facility in Olmeneta, Italy was attacked on April 16.
The research center, which specializes in the “improvement of traditional corn varieties”, was struck by unidentified assailants using Molotov cocktails. Based on a spray-painted message, the attack was related to the impending merger of Monsanto and Bayer. No employees were harmed during the assault but a research area housing corn seed varieties suffered a massive loss.
