Arkansas: Harvest Wraps Up as Temperatures Drop – USDA

Crop Progress and Condition for the Week Ending November 16, 2014.

    Comments from Extension Agents

“Early cold weather is changing many producers game plan. Earlier than normal feeding of livestock is occurring, hopefully this event is not a precursor for the rest of the winter.”
    –Mike McClintock, Boone County

“Winding up cotton harvest and wheat planting.”
    –Andy Vangilder, Clay County

“Farmers are spraying ryegrass in wheat fields; soybean harvest is basically complete; wheat is being seeded; some hay is being fed; good dry land soybean yields have been reported; wet field conditions have slowed remaining acres of wheat to be planted; emergence also slowed.”
    –Hank Chaney, Faulkner County

    “Harvesting soybeans and planting wheat.”
    –Jeff Welch, Lonoke County

“Soybean harvest is quickly wrapping up. Livestock continue to receive supplement feeding resulting from the recent cold weather. Some fall tillage continues where able.”
    –Brent Griffin, Prairie County

“Soybean harvest continues at a slow pace. Some wheat still emerging.”
    –Mitch Crow, Saint Francis County
