    AgFax Wildlife Review: N.C. Hunter Bags 500-Pound Wild Hog

    A hunter in North Carolina has bagged a 500-pound wild hog that reportedly had been on the loose in Bertie County for six to eight years.

    Al Jazeera America’s Richard Grant joined a wild hog hunt in the Mississippi Delta in February and offers a compelling first-person report.

    The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is conducting aerial wild hog control using firearms, the Times-Picayune of New Orleans reports. The hogs being targeted are in the swamps of Pearl River and Sherburne wildlife management areas.

    In Florida, wild hogs are ravaging neighborhoods in East Venice, the Herald-Tribune of Sarasota reports. Officials estimate there are about half a million wild hogs in Florida’s 67 counties.

    The Dallas Morning News recently reported on the progress of research to develop a contraceptive that could be used to stem the explosion of wild hog populations.
