Management strategies for dealing with weed resistance will be discussed at the Hub of the Plains Ag Conference on Wednesday, Feb. 12.
This year, a major new challenge for producers in Lubbock and surrounding counties is that of controlling herbicide resistant pigweed, according to Mark Brown, County Extension Agent with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension in Lubbock County.
The conference was developed under the guidance of the Lubbock County Ag committee.
This conference, which is scheduled from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m., will provide useful information that producers need to enhance profit margins during 2014. The location will be at the KoKo Palace in Lubbock at 5101 Ave Q. A $30 registration fee, payable at the door will cover costs for a noon meal, refreshments, and meeting room facilities. Space is limited.
Producers should RSVP by calling the Lubbock County Extension Office at 806-775-1680 or sending an e-mail to lubbock@ag.tamu.edu by the close of business on Monday, February 10.
