Peanuts:

Argentine exports up sharply for first 5 months of 2008

Río Segundo, Cordoba, Argentina - During the first 5 months of 2008, peanut exports certified by the National Service of Sanity and Agricultural Quality (SENASA) totaled 143,353 tons, with valued at $161.7 million dollars.

Compared to the same period in 2007, that is a 25% increase in volume and a 67% increase in foreign sales.

The main market was Holland, where 76,618 tons were certified for export at a total value of $83,7 million dollars.

Exports also were certified to Russia at 15,984 tons ($19.7 million dollars).

The remaining balance of sales included shipments to France, Poland, Great Britain, Chile, South Africa and Italy.
